Michigan Transportation Student Organization (MiTSO), a U-M student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), serves as a hub for students at the University of Michigan engaged in transportation-related disciplines. I served on the board for two years: first as Treasurer (2022–23), then as President (2023–24).
During my presidency, I restructured key operations to better align with the needs of both undergraduate and graduate students, fostering stronger collaboration and implementing strategic changes to build a more inclusive and engaged community. Some of the key achievements during my leadership include:
Launched the ITE Coffee Chat series to strengthen MiTSO’s presence within the national ITE community. This event brought distinguished industry leaders to campus and offered students opportunities for career advising and professional networking.
Organized the Student-Faculty Gathering in collaboration with the U-M CEE department. This new initiative fostered connections between undergraduate students, faculty, and industry professionals.
Secured over $17,000 in funding, which enabled MiTSO to support 21 students - including 8 undergraduate and master’s students without faculty sponsorship - in attending the 2024 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting.
Won the 2023 Student Chapter Momentum Award from the ITE Great Lakes District.

Hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Operations Center of Excellence (USDOT NOCoE), Transportation Technology Tournament (TTT) is an annual competition where student teams develop Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) solutions for real-world challenges. I led a team of six students from the University of Michigan for the 2023 tournament.
In collaboration with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the City of Detroit, our team proposed an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) operational plan to support the 2024 NFL Draft, held in Detroit. Our project was selected as a finalist, and we delivered a live presentation at the 2023 ITE Annual Meeting.

I have contributed to the academic community through various service roles, including conference organization, peer review, and committee participation. As my career progresses, I look forward to expanding these roles and continuing to serve the academic community.
